2012 Beijing update

February 20th, 2012

The emotional roller coaster exists for me while I live in and work from Beijing. My last post may have been my last one before moving away from Beijing. I seriously contemplated packing my things and moving on. Since December I have been shedding weight. I recall lessons from the past. Steven Gordon notices (quicker than I do) that certain folks only call when they need something. I am nice. I have plenty of time. In Beijing my physical world is relatively small. Since I bike and do not drive I get to most of my usual haunts within 30 minutes via bike.  I always surround myself with plenty of nice folks. Some yucky folks always slip in and I constantly shed that weight. Since December my (bad) weight has dropped dramatically. It feels good and less stressful and more relaxed. Also, I find myself with even more free time.  On my goals list every winter I put, “offend at least one person a day.” This means that as long as I continue to meet new folks I will offend someone. Everyone never always likes everyone. That means that I will offend people. It’s inevitable.  Another odd side effect of offending more than the standard amount of folks, I feel more freedom than normal.
